Name: Wan Norith
Species: Human
Faction: Imperial Army
Rank: Specialist
Age: 20
Height: 6’0
Weight: 160 lbs

Appearance:
Wan’s a bit skinny for his height, though not so much he looks sickly or like he’ll fall over in a stout breeze. Due to the training regime of the Imperial Army, he’s in pretty good shape, though he doesn’t have a six pack, the fact he hits the gym and runs a few km a day is pretty obvious. He’s got no tattoos or identifying marks, save for a scar on his left elbow from when he fell out of a tree as a kid.
Personality:
Wan’s a normal dood who’s been stuck in abnormal circumstances. He’s always been a bit of a loner, because he lives in his own head, mainly. Not to the point where he’s absent from his life, but more that he’s just disinterested. Having a pair of parents who were in the education system, he’d been exposed to the “alternate” views the Imperials would agree with.
He’s what you’d call the strong and silent type. He’s not one to let people walk over him, and will stand up for himself when he needs to. Wan, however, isn’t someone to go out of his way to get to know people, being somewhat introverted. This isn’t to say he’s unable to meet people, and loosens up ( as most do ) with the addition of booze.
Wan tends to choose his words carefully, and doesn’t talk unless he’s got something to actually say. Partly this comes from his upbringing, it being simpler to just not say anything rather than argue with his parents, and partly because he’s just a quiet guy.
The man has a dry sense of humor, and will pun it up whenever he can...even if it results in groans and people throwing things at him to get him to stop.
History:
Born to a pair of parents, at the time fresh out of university, in 24 bby, Wan’s never known a galaxy without War or the Empire. Growing up, his parent’s always carried alternative views about things, having been what would normally be called “hippies”, basically. Early on in his life, just after the end of the clone wars, both were hired as teachers at a middle of the road highschool on Ord Mantell. Typically, they wouldn’t have been, but given the Empire’s purges of Aliens from government agencies, they were desperate.
As such, Wan grew up with a pair of well educated, intelligent, if somewhat overzealous, parents. The pushed him to read early, get good grades, study, all the normal things a pair of teachers would probably do. They also made it clear that the empire ( despite it being obvious to him they were mistaken ) was the enemy. That it’d taken away the democracy and liberty of trillions and made second class citizens of the vast majority of the galaxy.
Attending protests was a regular thing, though they were small scale and mainly in front of the Ord Mantell government offices. Typically the Imperials would just let them go, no media being permitted to actually cover the events and the protesters being white washed as lunatics unworthy of validation did a pretty good job of keeping their issues from reaching beyond the campuses of a few universities and high schools.
It was during these formative years that Wan really realized there wasn’t anything they could do. The Empire was the Empire, they had the power, they could control the media, and his parents really weren’t as smart as they’d seemed when he was younger. Around his 12th birthday, he finally had enough and told them to pound salt with the protests. If they wanted to go, they could, but he’d have no part of it, the teen just wanting to live a normal life.
Throughout his highschool days he was a decent student, keeping mostly to himself. He got decent grades ( when he applied himself) and wanted to become a writer, or maybe an engineer...or a journalist...he wasn’t sure. It was during this time, when he was 18, that he found himself with some of his buddies at a party in the alien district of town. Specifically, in Little Ryloth.
The party was bananas, he’d never even spoken to a Twi’lek, let alone a Duro or any of the other 5 races he’d met that night. There was more drugs there than he’d seen even on Cop shows, and the Twi’lek girls were gorgeous, and somewhat more gregarious than the women he was used to at his highschool. The good looking, and still somewhat shy, teen, found himself talking with, and eventually in bed with, a very pretty, if somewhat skinny, Twi’lek named Miyal’Kur.
The teen literally bumped into her while having a tabac stick outside of the party. He wasn’t paying attention, bumped into her, and she dropped her drink and he dropped his smoke. Miyal shrugged it off, and picked up his now wet and doused tabac smoke and said “I touched your butt.”, and laughed, telling him he owed her a drink. They hit it off from there.
Eventually, after dating for a few weeks, the two became a thing and he finally met her rather large family. They owned a pizza place in Little Ryloth, 3 generations of them living in the two storey apartment above the shop at ground level. Miyal worked in the back, as a cook, helping make Pizzas and Panzerotti. Her family liked him, as did her two brothers and sister, though her grandparents would poke fun at her by asking when they’d get great grandchildren.
Things were going pretty well until they...didn’t.
There was an especially large protest in front of the Ord Mantell government offices regarding a policy designed to remove certain aliens from the planet. The teen wasn’t ever clear on what the policy actually was, not really caring, but his parents were, and they went. His mother chained herself to the office's front door along with about a dozen other protesters, and were arrested. As was his father.
Due to them being labeled as “agitators” they were sent for “reeducation through labor” for 2 years. Wan was pissed, both at his parents for being so monumentally stupid, and the Empire, for taking them as seriously as they did. In addition to this, their assets were frozen, the teen loosing a place to live. Now over 18, and legally an adult, he was on his own quite suddenly, and asked Myial for help.
She accepted him with open arms, though he was stuck sleeping with her, in her smallish bed, without Air Conditioning...in an equatorial city...it was better than the street. He did this for about a month before he’d finally finished high school.
Realizing he needed college to get ahead, and that the future he wanted had to involve Myial, the teen knew he had to do something to get the funds to pay for it. He didn’t have the money, he was helping with deliveries for the Pizza place. Myial, if she could, would have helped, but she was just as broke as he was….
The solution became obvious when he was on a delivery, and saw a billboard advertising the Imperial Forces. They’d pay for college, after a term of 4 years. The exchange seemed fair, he’d give them 4 years of his life, in exchange for 4 years of college.
The next day, he signed up, to the protestations of Miyal. After a few days, she calmed down and realized he was doing what he could to help her, and promised he wouldn’t shoot any twi’leks.
6 months later, and Wan was a freshly minted Technical Specialist with the Imperial Army, and was assigned to a posting on Commenor. That went well...until his CO found out he was dating a Twi’lek.
The fact he was dating one wasn’t a big deal, his CO figured everybody needed to get their rocks off. The issue was that he made the mistake of telling his CO he loved the woman. That got him reassigned.
To Garqi.
Miscellaneous Crap:
Can cook a kickass Pizza or Panzarotti.
