Appearance:
Bekk is rather hard to describe, with "average" being the general consensus between those closest to him, and even himself. The zabrak is clearly built slender, yet the physical aspects of his job has awarded him well muscled arms and pecs. Complimenting, or unfortunately enhancing, his gangly appearance are notably long feet and dexterous fingers. His skin tone is a pale yellow, with beige traditional tattoos of his people crisscrossing his body. Not being of a subspecies adapted for hair, Bekk is completely bald. However, his short, shapely horns offer a pleasant alternative. What the zabrak lacks in hair his body makes up with bone structure, most notably pronounced areas where eyebrows would sit otherwise. Below are Bekk's green eyes, commonly seen with a sad glint or glassy profile. A sharp, thin nose dominates the territory in the center of his face. Under it is a pair of frown prone thin lips, and further down still is a pointed chin.
The zabrak tends to lean towards the practical or utilitarian side of fashion, and basically doesn't own anything that he'd feel bad wearing to degrease an engine. His typical attire is normally a jumpsuit of various colors, durasteel toed boots, work gloves, a utility belt of hand tools, as well as goggles and/or knees pads. Even in relax mode Bekk the only variants on this formula may be the lack of the utility belt and wearing the jumpsuit with the top half secured around his waist via the sleeves. Speaking of which, under his standard fare the zabrak exclusively wears shirts handed over to him by representatives of the companies trying to sell things to the garage he works at. Underwear wise, he goes commando literally all the time.
This is his full work uniform, which he frequently sports just out and about in Cover City, even on off days.
Personality:
Bekk Gath is an extremely soft-spoken person, and prefers situations where he doesn't have to flex his rarely used vocal cords. This aversion to conversation is more from a dislike of small talk than a lack of social skills. The zabrak enjoys the company of others as much as the next being, it's just the social obligations that tend to come with them are a deal breaker to him. Plus, he can easily get his point across with facial expressions and the occasional guttural utterance. That being said, Bekk thoroughly enjoys catching up with friends to hear the changes and adventures they might have gone through since they last talked.
The zabrak has a love/hate relationship with Shili, and more feral worlds in general. He loves the picturesque landscapes one can find, the local cuisine, the togruta themselves and the all around remoteness of most of the planet. On the opposite side, nature has a nasty way of ruining all kinds of tech, and getting proper replacement parts a pain in the ass. As a mechanic you can see where his frustration comes from, not that either difficulty would stop him from working out something to get the job done. Bekk prides himself on being exceptionally gifted in vehicle and droid maintenance, and sees every hardship as just a further test of his skills.
The mechanic loves to take in knowledge that might help with his profession, but is ironically ignorant by choice towards just about anything else. Neither galactic politics, bizarre cultures or hokey religions have any say on his life, so he doesn't care about any of them in the slightest. Except anything to do with wookies.....
Unlike many of his coworkers, the zabrak doesn't even have any real beef with The Empire. They've never done him personally any wrong, so he really doesn't have a negative opinion on them. However, if he did have to pick between them and the republic he'd definitely go with the latter, if only for the sake of his friends who have lost so much under the new regime.
It's also worth mentioning that Bekk has a massive love of animals, even though he prefers the company of mechanical companions a lot more. Droids don't destroy furniture or leaving excrement all over the floor. A result of this love is his choice to be a strict vegetarian, not even partaking of eggs, milk, or cheese. Warra nuts are his favorite food, specifically the Hot 'n' Spicy kind, often paired with his favorite drink, Ardees.
History:
As odd as it sounds, Bekk was actually mostly raised on Shili. His first years of development were spent knocking about one of Coruscant's overburdened orphanages during the Clone Wars. Less than a year after the conflict came to an end, The Empire decided to combine forces with some shady employees of the Refugee Resettlement Coalition to find the millions of orphan children on the planet more suitable places to live. In truth, it was a ploy to cut the mouths to feed and introduce a fresh generation of undesirable aliens to the work force, mostly with small jobs until they were big enough for mining or risky engineering. The young slaves in all but name got shipped off to the far corners of the galaxy.
Bekk was among many who didn't know their ultimate fate when he boarded his ship to be sent off world. Luckily for him and his comrades, a fugitive Jedi had stowed away in the ventilation system as well. Some kinda way the person must've found out about the plan from the crew, because they quickly took the ship by force and altered the flight plan. Bekk never saw them himself, but he always imagined it had to be a togruta who helped them, seeing as the jedi decided to fly them to Shili, of all places. Shortly after they landed in Corvala their savior vanished, leaving the children's fate in the hands of the city authorities to care for them now.
The zabrak decided to tag along with several of the older orphans who didn't want to be under anyone else's control after all this, and took to the streets to survive. Bekk didn't stay with them long though, seeing as he got caught several months later by a gotal whose meal he was trying to steal from a café. His salvation came in the form or a burly wookie who didn't want to watch a kid's arm get broken. The towering being fed the gotal a few of his own teeth then introduced herself to the boy as Attiaddik, a local entrepreneur in the area. Her claim to fame was owning and operating a repair garage called Auntie Atti's Thrusters and Respulsers. Bekk made a total fool of himself crying and begging for a place to stay and work, but she thankfully agreed before things got even more embarrassing for him.
Auntie Atti definitely lived up to her name by treating her employees warmly like family, even their new young secretary/janitor. During most of the business hours Bekk worked in the office organizing part's receipts and work orders, while cleaning up grease and lubricant spills after closing time.
For the first couple of years he stayed with Auntie's apartment, but could afford the place next to hers after saving up every credit he got his hands on. It was nothing personal, but having a place of his own felt like a major milestone after living in groups as far back as he could remember. Unfortunately, he didn't take rent into consideration, and had to move back in with his surrogate mother after only two months.
Within a few more years Bekk would begin to aid the mechanics willing to have a kid around and started learning the trade very quickly. By the time the tenth anniversary of his arrival rolled around the zabrak was certain this was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. It was also on his chosen birthday for that year that Auntie gave him a small box containing the scattered parts of the droid he'd dub "Gnat" once he repaired the little thing. It was about a year later that the old wookie decided to expand her business to Cover City, and asked Bekk to move there to keep an eye on things while she stayed at the main branch.
C+C Thrusters and Respulsers was smaller than its parent business, but the zabrak did like he got his own work space for clients that preferred him. Ironically, after finally obtaining his own place in this new city, he extremely missed Auntie almost immediately. It just wasn't the same without her around. Still, the loneliness lessened once he started going back to visit, and of course after making friends with several of the locals. As things are going, Bekk sees himself becoming chief mechanic in only a few more years. He can't wait.
