General
Garqi is a pleasant tropical planet, with cool breezes, occasional downpours of rain, and a regular amount of sun. It has one city, the capital of Pesktda small at roughly 200,000 people, and several widely scattered small towns and plantations growing caf. It also has the Imperial Garrison.
Pesktda is situated on a bay, a bay that is flanked by two hills. The first hill is slowly rising and houses the Garqi Spaceport. The area near it is full of light industrial and commercial buildings, typically related to Caf export or roasting. In the middle of the hills are the quaint, colorful small buildings of the city, and wide avenues and plazas shaded by trees. There are also pleasant sandy beaches.
On the other hill, rising steeply and occupying bluffs overlooking the water, is the Imperial Compound. It is technically composed of two separate bases, one housing Imperial Army troops, and a separate airbase on the bluff itself housing the Garqi Eagles TIE Squadron.
The Main Base Compound
There isn't much that can be said to the good of the main base. It consists of a fenced perimeter monitored by guards, and an interior area sprawling to include multiple barracks units, a motor pool, a special vehicle hangar, an armory, a training ground, a firing range, a mess hall, and a headquarters building. Most of the buildings are either prefabricated units, or hurriedly constructed cookie-cutter designs built obviously by the lowest bidder.
Barracks A is widely considered to be the most run-down barracks. It is a duracrete-block structure, two story, with individual rooms and a common area housing things like laundry facilities. It houses the 128 stormtroopers of the 154th Stormtrooper Company in 32 rooms per two wings. While the showers never function properly, each Stormtrooper has only one roommate to endure.
Barracks B is much newer than Barracks A, and has clean amenities and functional utilities. However, it is a wide and squat building of 4 'wings' all encircling a single courtyard in the middle. Each wing houses 32 troopers in a single hall. Most sleep in bunks. It is allocated to the 155th Stormtrooper Company.
Barracks C is home to the 120 Army Troopers and 50 Army Pilots of the 72nd Light Armored Battalion. It is 3 stories tall, with rooms accessed from the outside. However each room accommodates six troopers and shares a large refresher unit with another room.
Barracks D is almost a misnomer, as it lies at the furthest edge of the base and houses a scant 32 Scout Troopers of the 153rd Scout Platoon. The building is roughly E-shaped, with a single main hall branching into 3 wings. At the end of each wing is a larger room unit for NCOs, while the interim area is double occupancy for ordinary troopers. Barracks D is an object of jealousy for most other Troopers because of the kitchen unit it possesses and for the large amount of windows with good views of the forest.
Officer Quarters is not strictly a barracks. While in practice most officers choose to live off-base in the much nicer town, those who do choose to remain, typically no more than 50, call this pleasant set of quarters home. Each individual officer's quarter is essentially a small cottage, fully furnished with refresher and autochef. Most of them share at least three walls, but all are guaranteed at least one window.
The Motor Pool is home to the general set of craft such as landspeeders and speeder bikes that the Armored Battalion does not directly operate. These assets are 4 Seraph Class Urban Landspeeders marked ‘Imperial Use Only,’ 36 Aratech 74 Z speeder bikes, and 2 ST-101 Repulsortrucks marked ‘Imperial Use Only.’
The Vehicle Hangar is the special facility of the 72nd, and is home to their specific assets: 10 AT-ST walkers, 2 TX-130T Fighter Tanks, 2 LAVr QH7 Chariot Command Speeders, and 4 Imperial Troop Transports. This facility is quite tall to cover the walkers, and is much better equipped than the standard motor pool.
The armory is administered by the Armory Officer, and is filled to the brim with E-11 blaster rifles and every other bit of standard Imperial weaponry. It is also the most fortified location on the base.
The training ground serves two purposes. First it has a wide duracrete surface used for drilling, assemblies, and the like. Second, it has off to the side a full obstacle course and track to be used for physical training.
The firing range is not the state of art facility most would expect of the Empire. To the contrary, it is basically a 200 meter long area ending in a very thick hill, filled with targets to be shot at. It has a covered awning over the firing positions, and a small hut for the range officer to sit in and process scores.
The mess hall is absolutely nothing to brag over, merely a very large facility serving horrible food and finding a way to make bad caf on the planet where caf is grown. The best anyone can say of it is that it is free.
The Headquarters Building is the last prominent feature of the Main Base. It is the one building constructed to the Empire's aesthetic delight: sleek black surfaces and white lights, with a large statue of Emperor Palpatine standing outside the door. It houses the Command Staff's offices, and the legion of secretaries who aid them.
The Airbase
The Airbase is separated from the Main Base by a checkpoint, and it has an entirely different feel to it. It has a control tower, a specially constructed TIE hangar, an Officer's Club, and a pool.
The control tower is certainly the most obvious building in Garqi, readily visible from any angle at all. From it the small group of overworked and perpetually stressed controllers direct the entire traffic flow. Any overflow is handled by the much smaller Spaceport Control Center.
The hangar is a work of art. Not only does it house the TIE fighters and their maintenance equipment, but it also houses command offices and quarters for pilots on their rotation. Fifteen pilots stay on call at all times in case a scramble is necessary. The remaining five TIE fighters have a total of 15 qualified pilots who can send them in as a reserve while those left on the ground coordinate from the Combat Tactical Center in the tower.
The Officer's Club is the envy of all on the Main Base. With a pleasant veranda and fresh vibrant cuisine, it keeps the personnel lucky enough to be on the Airbase well-equipped with edible food (as even enlisted personnel may place orders at a side window). It also has a pool and hot tub behind it, which is constantly tended to. How the installation afforded this, no one can quite say, though there are distinct suspicions nepotism was involved.

Role and Doctrine
The role of the Imperial Garrison on Garqi, a small one by any standards, is to dissuade any treasonous activities while also signalling the Empire's interest in protecting the planet of Garqi. In event of any actual assault, the base's task is to resist enemy attack long enough for the Imperial Navy's Sector Response Force to arrive on station and disrupt the enemy assault.
At a Glance
As a result of this limited mission, the Garqi garrison is typically composed of bored troopers, those whose careers have gone nowhere quickly, and those with less effective appraisals. It is not the best and brightest of the Empire, but rather a place the Empire hopes will be uneventful and not cause problems.
Camp Grek
Located on Barda Island, Camp Grek is a relatively new facility. The island itself is a natural one, 1.4 kilometers offshore. It lies to the southern coast of the planetary capital, approximately 4 kilometers away from the settlement of Tilde. Tilde is a traditional service-area for the plethora of plantations in the area, and now the new Garqi Imperial Fisheries Department which has established full operations in the coastal waters. The mission of Camp Grek is to provide law enforcement assistance and emergency response to Tilde and the Hatchery.
Camp Grek is composed of four prefabricated Quonset huts. The first is the Command hut, which possesses the radio and communications equipment. The second is the supply hut, which consists of an armory and cache. The third is the repair depot, which has an impressive array of equipment to repair the Camp's single A-A5 speeder truck and Aratech 74Z speeder bike. The final building is the Barracks. The central square between these buildings is home to a parade ground and a very large Imperial flag.
