Bekk had put on a weak smile to sorta dampen the embarrassment from admitting his short comings he felt would start rolling in once Rassha replied, but she gave him a nice ego boost instead. Her smile was small, yet radiated the kind of approval he'd longed for since he began screwing up around her. Now the hard part was just maintaining it, something he was more than up to the challenge for.
Ironically, being able to understand togruti near fluently made it all the more saddening that Bekk could never reply with the same eloquent. To reply with anything other than a yes or no with his broken togruti seems like it should be a crime against her people on a whole. First degree butchering of a language, and he would be guilty as charged.
Having to pay attention to the subtle twitches of her lekku kind of took away from enjoying the setting sun from the passenger side. However, the approaching night from the driver's side was certainly stunning to look at. Getting a chance to experience a view like this every evening just compounded the reasons he was going to enjoy this trip to meet her family.
"What do you mean I might not need it?" The zabrak asked, looking a bit stumped while trying to follow the train of logic with that statement. The lightsaber, the weapon of the Jedi, was clearly a melee weapon, so that didn't explain how there was some way for a Jedi to compete with the effectiveness of a bow or blaster.
Having a blade that can apparently cut anything can only get you so far.
"Did the Jedi have a special range weapon as well?" Bekk inquired, quickly trying to picture what doesn't fit under blaster or bow, and is still effective at hitting targets at range. Slugthrower was the best bet in his mind, but javelin or sling weren't ruled out either.

Raasha cringed mentally. She hadn't realized the exact magnitude of what was unknown. For her, the knowledge that Jedi could catch blaster bolts was common. It was the kind of small change in perspective by which you realized suddenly just how different the experiences of other people were. She'd talked about the Force, but she'd never explained what exactly happened. She'd been, well, vague.
Of course she wasn't going to be too harsh on herself. After all you could only describe what you'd never experienced so well. It was like a fish trying to describe the sky as 'that blue thing above the water.'
She angled the speeder carefully to pass through a familiar gully, and then began responding to his question.
"The blade of the lightsaber can catch blaster shots, and deflect them. Jedi have these reflexes or some kind of power, and they can anticipate the shots."
Raasha tried hard to remember whether she'd specifically heard they could send the blasters back at specific points, or if she'd guessed that. If she'd heard it, it was long enough ago and vague enough that she couldn't place the source. It was best not to mention it at all then, just in case she was wrong. It would hardly do to give him advice that was a complete fantasy.
"But, I could still help you with a blaster, if you'd like that."

Bekk couldn't be a hundred percent sure that Raasha wasn't the type to tell a joke, although her serious nature seemed to heighten the odds, but the bit about reflect blaster bolts with a lightsaber sounded like one. It sounded just plain absurd to him, yet he was Intrigued by the concept. Technologically speaking it should be very viable.
From what the mechanic could tell, the lightsaber was just a length of plasma held into the shape of a blade, the only real difference between it and a ray shield was basically purpose. If the shield could deflect a blaster bolt so could the saber.
"Thanks, I'd like that, I have a feeling you're a great teacher. Giving the bow a try too would be nice" He remarked, flashing a quick grin while moving his hand down to the glowrod holster at his side.
"Honestly, I don't think I'd believe all the things I've learned about the Jedi if it wasn't someone who'd met one telling me all this. It all seems farfetched, but if I do have the potential to become one, all these powers of theirs sound like they'll be fun to try out." The zabrak continued, withdrawing the lightsaber from the holster just enough to stroke the cool metal.
"I think I might nod off for a bit, I'm still a little tired."

Raasha, candidly, had no idea how she was as a teacher. She'd never really had much experience on the genre, well side from trying to explain a few hunting-related things like the feeding habits of certain prey or how to track certain animals. It was basics then, basics or little details. Tips. Tricks. Never substantive instruction, never 'teaching'. Maybe it was arrogant of her to think she could teach him to shoot, but somehow she didn't think it would be so difficult.
Between the scope, her experience, and his possible Jedi inclinations, somehow she doubted there would be problems.
Farfetch'd was not a Basic word she knew, but she could catch it more or less by context. It was hard to believe. That whole story of the Jedi was something she knew well by family lore, but many of the details had once been farfetch'd to her too. The lightsaber feats, these were things she'd never seen in person, only heard about second-hand. She'd never known a Jedi to lie though, and they said it was possible. Whole styles of using the weapon, philosophies even, about redirecting force. From range or up close. She knew because she'd asked, incessantly until her mother had to slap her on the wrist and tell her it was embarrassing.
She smiled thinly at the Zabrak.
"Rest well, is a long journey."
